A big congratulations goes out to Mike, our drummer, and his wife Ashley on the arrival of their new baby girl Matilda Joy Thiessen, born on November 14, 2012, 8 lbs 3 oz and 20 inches long!! Congrats guys, you will make great parents!!!

Spent some good time in the studio this week getting Jets on Fire ready for the DVD, hoping that the jets will pick it up, its perfectly suited for a Jets Rock Anthem. Time to mix the song and it will be ready to go, thanks so much to Myke at Vambo Sound, a truly great guy!!!

The SoZ have had their song 'Jets on Fire' chosen as one of the songs for the new dvd called Jet Fuel, a documentary on the Winnipeg Jets coming back to our great city. They will also be selling a compilation CD of the songs used which will help us raise some money for our charity. Well, we are back from the Dominican Republic and it was an amazing experience. Jasons family and Spins family along with some good friends all headed out to the Dominican for a 'VACATION WITH A PURPOSE'. We had gone to help out a school down there in which we played music for the kids, we painted the inside and outside of their school and we held a sports camp for the kids, we even helped lead a few worship services in a couple of churches, which went over really well especially because Jason had learned the lyrics in spanish!!

This was the most fulfilling trip that I have ever been on, while we had time to shop and sit on the beach, helping these kids was my highlight for sure. These kids have absolutely nothing in the way of possessions, but Ive never seen so many happy kids, I now know that the key to happiness isnt through an xbox or ps3, lol. Our band had raised money throughout the year from gigs and merchandise, which helped pay for some of the sports equipment that we took down for them. I also want to thank Kilcona church for raising almost $2000 in a simple chili lunch, id also like to thank Canadian Tire on Regent for donating almost $500 in sports equipment, there were also many people that donated Canadian Tire money and various clothing, toys and shoes.  We also want to recognize and thank AirTransat for allowing us to take 2 checked bags for free which allowed us to bring a huge amount of stuff to the kids.

If you ever get the chance to go on a trip like this, dont be scared, i promise you it will be the most awesome trip you can do, Ive said it before and I will say it again, to go on a missions trip, doesnt mean you have to sell your home and all your possessions and move to a jungle in Africa, if you have the right heart and just want to love the kids, you will be a blessing to them.... and when you get home you will realize that they were a blessing to you!!!

Just sending out a 'Good Luck' to my buddy Kyle on Canadas Handyman Challenge, one of the final 4 contestants from Vancouver. The guy builds an awesome lawnmower for his kid out of one sheet of plywood, the thing looks amazing!!! Good job buddy, keep it up!!! We are all cheering for you back at home in Winnipeg.

What a blast we all had playing some really upbeat worship music, followed by a great drama by Bethel Church, then Pauls amazing sermon and then followed by a set of some classic and contemporary Christian Rock.  We were also able  to perform our new song called 'Rock Show' and it went over pretty well thanks to Rob and Ryan figuring out how to get the Sirens Blaring over the speakers. It was an awesome night had by all, cant wait to do it again!!!!

So this week has been really busy, the band is very close to completing the first song on the new cd and it sounds incredible, very catchy, cant wait to hear what you guys think of it, we love hearing feedback, so please let us know what you think. We may post a short clip on the site in the near future.  The band also celebrated 2 birthdays this week, on Tuesday it was Spins birthday and today its the crazy frontman Jasons Buhrs birthday. Lets raise a toast to many more years working together, many more songs to be written and many more gigs to be played!!!!!

Man... the last few weeks have been very encouraging, SoZ has been working on some new material and the ideas are just flying, the ideas are coming faster than we know what to do with. I think we have some really good material, now its just time to fine tune the ideas and get some recording done....which can be a challenge with 4 guys that all have full time jobs, but don't worry, it will get done, no timeline on the new cd at this point but we will keep you updated as things progress.
