About Us
Forming in early 2010 , The Sons of Zed were a collective type band Including various musicians at various different events. Grounded by the original band members, Jason Buhr (lead vocals/guitar) and Greg "Spins" Martin (bass guitar). Since then, the "Sons of Zed" have Performed at various different indoor events and outdoor festivals in Manitoba and abroad. Bringing their brand of straight ahead rock 'n roll mixed with catchy hooks and a positive message to many !
With the desire to have 3 dedicated, inspired and enthusiastic members Jason and "Spins" met fellow musician Mike Thiessen (drums) and the SOZ officially became a fixed unit in late 2012!
The Sons of Zed believe that music is it's own reward and that Music is a joy to play! This philosophy has led the Sons of Zed to help many charitable organizations carry out their event and further their cause!
Sons of Zed also have their own cause which they believe in and are very passionate about! The Asher foundation school in the Dominican republic is a school filled with underprivileged children and some orphans who wouldn't normally have the basic opportunity to go to school and have a daily meal without outside input and sponsors! Jason and Greg have gone to the Dominican Republic to help the school by painting, building and holding sports camps for the children... As well as playing music for the children and the people of the Dominican republic!! Profits from every Sons of Zed gig, Cd sales or Merch sales go to help support the Asher foundation school!
The Sons of Zed sound can be described as Energetic, upbeat, Positive rock 'n roll Along with a dose of introspective reflection and flavors of the Foo Fighters and U2 mixed in!
The Sons of Zed are currently recording their first full-length cd as the Sons of Zed entitled "The Spin Cycle"!! The first double single off the CD is entitled "Rockshow" and "Jets on fire". "Jets on fire" will be featured on the upcoming DVD documentary entitled "Jet fuel"… A documentary on the Winnipeg Jets Hockey team's first year back in Winnipeg! The Sons of Zed are very excited to finish the recording of this CD and look forward to bringing their message and music to many current and future "Zed-heads" very soon!!
